PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court chief registrar's office has advised the public not to fall for an ongoing scam which uses a fake Palace of Justice letterhead and stamp.
Federal Court chief registrar Datuk Seri Latifah Mohd Tahar said the scammers would send letters stating that the court had issued an order of arrest and to freeze victims' assets under the Banking and Financial Institution Act 1989 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
"This matter is very serious as the scammers have used the Palace of Justice's name to cheat the public," she told the media at a press conference Wednesday.
She said scammers would spoof the court's general line number to make the call appear authentic to victims.
Latifah urged the public to call 03-8880 3663 for clarification if they encountered such scams.
