KUALA LUMPUR: A civil servant, believed to be a drug distributor, was arrested after police found an estimated 1.6kg of cannabis at his house at Projek Perumahan Awam Desa Rejang here on Sunday night.
The 28-year-old man was arrested at the flat’s parking space at 8.30pm.
Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said a team raided his house before the arrest.
“During the raid, he was not at home. Policemen then cut the lock to enter the house.
“They found five slabs of drugs, believed to be cannabis, along with tools used to pack drugs.
“Also found was a tool to consume cannabis and a ministry’s work pass belonging to the man. The suspect was later detected at the parking area of the flat,” he said in a statement today.
Roy said checks showed that he had no previous criminal record.
“He was tested positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the chemical compound in cannabis responsible for a euphoric high).
Investigation showed that he has been actively distributing drugs in Setapak over the last three months.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.”
