PETALING JAYA: Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim officially stepped down as Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Sunday, exactly one year after taking the helm on March 25, 2017.
"I wish to thank all who believed in me, the sponsors and all teams who competed.
"Here is my letter of resignation as FAM president. Thank you Malaysian football and goodbye," said the 34-year-old.
He made the announcement after attending the Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership’s annual congress at the Forest City Phoenix Hotel in Gelang Patah.
Tunku Ismail had shocked the local football scene when he announced his intention to quit on social media on March 15.
