KUALA LUMPUR - Two moderate earthquakes, measuring 5.3 and 5.7 on the Richter Scale, hit Indonesia today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said a 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck 574 km southeast of Sorong (2,022 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah) at 1.43 pm.
A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit the southern Molucca Sea, 173 km southeast of Tomohon (903 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah) at 8.20 am, it said in separate statements.
No threat of tsunamis was reported from either quake, it added.
