PUTRAJAYA: Police have received information that Low Taek Jho, a financier also known as Jho Low, is in Macau.
"The other day, we sent a team to Hong Kong to look for him (Low). Upon arrival, we were informed that he just left (Hong Kong) and we have information that he is in Macau now," said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
Mohamad Fuzi was speaking to reporters at the Home Ministry's Hari Raya open house, here, today.
Asked if the police team visited Low's residence and office in Hong Kong, Mohamad Fuzi said he did not have details.
On Tuesday, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said they are still looking for the alleged 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) mastermind Low.
Yesterday, Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said Low's passport was cancelled on June 15, following a request by the MACC that is in the midst of an extensive probe on the embezzlement of funds related to 1MDB.
"We received the request from Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull on Raya Day and we (proceeded) to cancel his passport immediately," Mustafar was quoted as saying.
