Najib charged with criminal breach of trust

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was today charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power for graft.
Under Section 52 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, Najib was charged with criminal breach of trust involving RM27 million, RM5 million and RM10 million in SRC International Sdn Bhd. He was the Finance Minister and Prime Minister then. He also acted as advisor to the company.
Meanwhile under Section 23 of the MACC 2009 Act, Najib was charged with using his position for a payout to himself of RM42 million when he took part or was involved in making the decision to provide government guarantees for a RM4 billion loan from Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen (KWAP) to SRC.
Earlier, Attorney-General Tommy Thomas requested for the proceeding to be conducted in English.
Judge Datuk Zainal Abidin Kamarudin then allowed the case to be transferred to the High Court.
