KUALA LUMPUR - Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd today unveiled its water-resistant dual-front camera smartphones – 2018 Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+.
Product Marketing IT and Mobile Business Unit Senior Manager, Julien Thean, said the consumers had an array of three colours to choose from and the A8 and A8+ were priced at RM1,799 and RM2,499, inclusive of six per cent goods and services tax, respectively.
“We are positive on these models as they had been created to meet consumer demand for the best photographs,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the smartphones here today.
Thean said the prices were attractive and at the same time offerred value for money.
“We are bringing flagship-like smartphone specifications to the masses with the similar functionalities at an affordable range,” said Thean.
The A8 and A8+ had dual-front cameras – 16MP+8MP F1.9 – and the users could switch between the two to take the preferred types of selfies, said Thean.
He said the phones had advanced live focus features which allowed the users to easily adjust the background blur (’bokeh’ effect) before or after taking the picture to create high-quality images.
“From day to night, the front and rear cameras would ensure that the users capture sharp images, even in low-light conditions with F1.9 and F1.7 aperture,” he said.
The phones had IP68 dust and water resistance, a metal frame and curved glass on the back and this would ensure that they could withstand the elements, including sweat, rain, sand and dust, he said.
Thean said shaky video footage would be a thing of the past with video digital image stabilisation technology, and with an added hyperlapse feature, users are able to create time-lapse videos.
