KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a man destroying and throwing Barisan Nasional (BN) flags on the ground in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) has gone viral on social media.
The 41-second video was recorded by a road user passing Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi, TTDI, around 10.30am on Saturday.
The footage shows a man destroying and throwing BN flags on the roadside, not far from the TTDI police station.
Realising he was being filmed, the man swore and made rude gestures at the witness.
Umno Segambut division Youth chief Ahmad Baidzawi Saleh Hamdi told NST today that a report was lodged at the TTDI police station at 3pm yesterday.
“We, representing Umno Segambut division, condemn his provocative actions we believe can stir up the situation after the dissolution of Parliament.
“Imagine if someone is dissatisfied with his act. He may seek revenge against the man.”
Baidzawi urged the authorities to investigate the case and take action against the culprit.
City police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said police were trying to identify and track down the culprit.
He said three police reports had been lodged.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.
“We want all parties to be mature and avoid unwanted incidents. Do not go overboard because of political differences,” said Mazlan
